Foxxytong Private Kitchen was founded by Susan Low and Huey Hiew. Susan has av passion for cooking homely recipes, while Huey has an eye for interior design and photography. Together, in 2014, they created a private kitchen concept restaurant that fuses heartwarming home-cooked recipes with the nostalgia of 1930’s Shanghai.
Foxxytong is a stylised transliteration of 福喜堂 (fu xi tang), which means a place of luck and happiness. It reflects the style of shop names from the old streets of Shanghai; at the same time, it is our wish to our dear patrons.
Our recipes have elements that are rooted deeply in Huey and Susan’s family history. Each dish is made with heart and soul, and with your health in mind. Our meats don’t contain antibiotics or
preservatives. We also don’t use MSG, and we use less salt and less oil to cook our dishes. Plus, we use alkaline water instead of normal water, which helps us to digest meaty meals. The way our dishes are cooked balances the health of the 5 vital organs: the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, and kidneys. In other words, our food are considered “healing food” for the body and soul.
