This especially strikes a chord with Law King Hui, co-founder and Group Managing Director of Sasbadi Holdings Berhad, who believes that accountability and a sense of responsibility play a crucial role in determining not only the success of his company, but of the society at large.

Speak to Law King Hui and you’ll walk away feeling enlightened. His dedication to education, which has been his career for more than 40 years now, was clear as he spoke about the business and industry with great passion.
Sasbadi Group, which was awarded the Brand Legend Award 2024, has always pursued innovation and excellence in providing educational materials and solutions for Malaysian students, parents, and teachers since 1985.
“From day one, it was clear that quality and trust was the way to build a successful brand, especially in the education sector,” said Law King Hui. “And to achieve that, we must be driven by our conscience, not profit.”
“If our books consist of errors, an unknowing student may go on with this false information for the rest of the academic year, or even many years to come. This misinformation could even affect the next generation, as he may share it with his children!” he opined. “You may repay him the price of the book, but you may never repay his time. As such, accuracy and quality is a moral obligation in our business.”
This path in which he has chosen to embark on started with the publication of a series of workbooks for Primary School children way back in 1985. Venturing into the publication business was purely coincidental for this bookworm who used to spend a lot of time with his head buried in books at his uncle’s bookshop where he used to hang out and help around.
Coming from a background where his family is poor, Law King Hui spent his schooling years helping his father who was a rubber tapper and also working in the paddy field to supplement the family income. Escaping into the fascinating world of books was his form of escapism which inevitably cemented his career in producing books for school-going children.
Elated and humbled about receiving the Brand Legend Awards by the Branding Association of Malaysia, he advises those – especically the younger generation who want to find success – to always “let your sincerity lead the way”.
“When you are sincere, then naturally, everything will fall into place. Be sincere in every aspect towards your staff, your customers, your suppliers and your business partners,” he said. “Connect your vision with your heart; your sincerity will lead you to success.”
