Polident Launches Multi-Sector Denture Access Programme to Address Oral Health Gap

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 June 2026 — Polident, a leading denture care brand by Haleon Malaysia, today launched Bersamamu, Senyuman Dikembalikan (We Got You: Returning Smiles), an evidence-backed, multi-sector denture access campaign.
The campaign brings together four dental university faculties of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and MAHSA University, as well as Watsons Malaysia, to provide 240 underprivileged Malaysians aged 50 and above with free full dentures (upper/lower or both arches) and oral health education.
The initiative arrives at a critical juncture. According to Malaysia’s National Health and Morbidity Survey (NOHSA), a staggering 48.4% of Malaysian adults require dentures—yet only 16.3% currently have them which leaves an underserved gap.
Building on a regional programme that has already provided over 7,000 free dentures to underserved communities in the Philippines and Indonesia since 2023, Polident Malaysia’s Bersamamu campaign will also include a clinical research study on the link between denture access and quality of life.

Speaking about the campaign, Neelesh Suryavanshee, General Manager, Haleon Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei, said, “At Haleon, our purpose is to deliver everyday health with humanity. For Polident specifically, we bring this purpose to life through Bersamamu, a campaign structured around three interdependent pillars: access, education, and research on dentures and oral care. However, this is not something we can do alone. This is why we are proud to bring this multisector coalition together, and we look forward to scaling this programme to more Malaysians in the future.”

Strong Uncle Lee (campaign’s KOL), Ahma (campaign’s KOL), Maj (Rtd) Dr. Hetal Ashvin Kumar, Specialist in Restorative Dentistry UKM, Mr. Neelesh Suryavanshee, Haleon General Manager, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Ms. Carrol Tan, Head of Trading, Watsons Malaysia, Dr. Chong Zhen Feng, President of Malaysian Dental Association, Dr. Siti Zuriana binti Mohd Zamzuri, representative from Ministry of Health Malaysia.
Through the programme, 240 Malaysian citizens aged 50 and above who are fully toothless on upper, lower or both arches will receive complete dentures at no cost with terms and conditions apply. The dentures will be fabricated and fitted by Year 4 and Year 5 dental students from UKM, UM, UiTM, and MAHSA University, under the supervision of an experienced dentist.
Upon the completion of the study, every patient will receive a Polident care kit and structured guidance on correct denture hygiene, ensuring the programme’s research integrity is maintained while patients receive the full benefit of proper denture care education. Beyond that, UKM will lead a two-phase clinical observational study that tracks Oral Health-Related Quality of Life using the validated OHIP-14 framework, with follow-up measurements at 1 week, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months post-treatment. Findings are planned for publication upon completion of the study, contributing to Malaysia’s national oral health evidence base.
Speaking about the campaign and study, Dr Hetal Ashvin Kumar, Lead Principal Investigator, Senyuman Dikembalikan Research Study from the Faculty of Dentistry at UKM, said, “Bersamamu is more than a CSR campaign. For the students of our four dental faculties, it is one of the most meaningful classrooms they will ever step into. These are Malaysians who may not have smiled comfortably in years, who have avoided certain foods, or who feel self-conscious even among family members. When students become part of the journey that restores someone’s confidence and quality of life, it changes how they understand what it truly means to care for a patient.”
