Unveiling ceremony of school logo & motto<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEPANG (26 MAY 2026)<\/strong> –<\/strong> The SJKC Sunsuria fundraising concert, Echoes of Melody<\/em> (\u6e05\u97f5\u7275\u5fc3\u5f26), concluded successfully on 24 May 2026 before a full-house audience at Xiamen University Malaysia’s Auditorium Hall. To date, approximately RM23 million has been raised towards the construction and development of SJKC Sunsuria, one of the vernacular primary schools approved under Malaysia’s “10+6” school development plan. The concert was graced by the presence of Deputy Minister of Education YB Tuan Wong Kah Woh and Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, Chairman of the SJKC Sunsuria Construction Committee, and attended by several distinguished guests and supporters of SJKC Sunsuria, including His Excellency Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia; Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, President of The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM); Tan Sri William Cheng; and Dato’ Seri Lim Kok Cheong, alongside approximately 600 guests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The development of SJKC Sunsuria reflects the collective efforts of many individuals and organisations who believe in the importance of education and community development. From the school\u2019s facilities and learning environment to its logo, motto, and song, every aspect has been thoughtfully planned to nurture academic excellence alongside a strong school culture grounded in values, character, and a sense of belonging. We are sincerely grateful to all donors, supporters, volunteers and members of the community who have contributed towards making this vision possible,” said Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, Chairman of the SJKC Sunsuria Construction Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Minister of Education YB Tuan Wong Kah Woh said that the Ministry of Education hopes to see all five new Chinese primary schools in Selangor fully realised by 2027. Construction has already begun for SJKC Sunsuria and SJKC Gamuda Cove, while the proposed SJKC Eco World, SJKC Lee Loy Seng, and SJKC Too Joon Hing are also progressing steadily. He described this as the Ministry\u2019s commitment to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn May 2024, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and I jointly officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for SJKC Sunsuria, making it the first among the five new Chinese primary schools in Selangor to officially commence construction. Later that same year, the SJKC Gamuda Cove  also broke ground,\u201d said Wong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wong added that the proposed SJKC Eco World and SJKC Lee Loy Seng are advancing actively, while the SJKC Too Joon Hing project, after undergoing five years of judicial proceedings, reached a settlement this year and is now entering the land application stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the establishment of new Chinese primary schools, including SJKC Sunsuria, reflects the growing demand for educational resources driven by community development. He expressed hope that the construction of Chinese primary schools can gradually be incorporated into the national budget and Malaysia Plans based on community needs, turning them into institutionalised development projects, a progress that the Chinese community has long hoped to see over the past 60 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn October 10 last year, the government announced in the 2026 National Budget that the relocation project of SJKC Aik Hua, Terong, Perak, would be included under the National Budget and the 13th Malaysia Plan, with the school to be fully funded by the government. We hope this marks a beginning, and that the National Budget in this year or next year will continue to bring progress at different levels,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond its physical development, SJKC Sunsuria has also placed strong emphasis on shaping the school\u2019s identity and culture from the outset. The school logo, designed by young architectural student and artist Virginia Yiu, is centred around the concept of the rising sun (\u9633), symbolising warmth, hope, growth, and inclusivity. Meanwhile, the school motto, \u201c\u517c\u5bb9\u5e76\u84c4\uff0c\u5d07\u5fb7\u521b\u65b0\u201d (\u201cInclusivity, Virtue, Innovation\u201d), was penned by Professor Datuk Dr Lim Chooi Kwa and reflects the school\u2019s commitment towards holistic education grounded in values, character, and innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also paid tribute to the school\u2019s Founding Benefactors and donors, whose generosity and commitment have been instrumental in advancing the development of SJKC Sunsuria. Among the Founding Benefactors recognised were Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, Tan Sri William Cheng, Dr Chia Song Kun, Tan Sri Lim Kuang Sia, Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong, Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai, Tan Sri David Cheng, Tan Sri Paul Koon, Tan Sri Barry Goh, Mr. YY Tan, Mr. Lee Thiam Wah, and Tan Sri Robert Tan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located within Sunsuria City in Sepang, SJKC Sunsuria is targeted for completion by 2027 and is intended to serve families within the surrounding community. Spanning approximately 7 acres, the campus will feature 24 classrooms, 2 special education resource rooms, 2 science laboratories, 1 design and technology workshop, 2 visual arts classrooms, 2 multimedia computer rooms, 2 music rooms, an air-conditioned multi-purpose hall, a canteen, a running track and field, a basketball court, and a preschool kindergarten with 2 classrooms, a canteen, and a playground upon completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Programme Highlights <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert opened with a commanding performance by Pin Hwa High School 24 Festive Drums<\/strong>, followed by the award-winning <\/strong>choir of SJKC Mun Choong, Kuala Lumpur<\/strong>. The programme also featured speeches by Deputy Minister of Education YB Tuan Wong Kah Woh and Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, alongside a special recognition ceremony for the school’s Founding Benefactors and inaugural donors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the performances, the concert marked the official unveiling of SJKC Sunsuria’s school logo, motto, and song, marking another meaningful milestone in the school\u2019s establishment journey. The school song, created by Puan Sri Chelsia Chan, received its inaugural public performance by the choir of SJKC Mun Choong, Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian a cappella group \u4e0d\u8bef\u6b63\u4e1a (BWZY A Cappella Entertainment)<\/strong> also performed during the concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert\u2019s headline performance featured Hong Kong-born erhu virtuoso and celebrated music producer Wan Pin Chu <\/strong>(\u6731\u82b8\u7f16), joined by cellist Chor Kai Hei<\/strong>, violinist Sally Law<\/strong>, and guitarist Loka Chun<\/strong>. The ensemble presented a specially curated repertoire showcasing a diverse range of musical styles and collaborations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
