The Hospitality Automation Summit (HOSAS) 2026<\/a>, organised by the
Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA\u00ae)<\/a> and co-organised with
the Malaysia PropTech Association (MPA)<\/a> and Vendfun Sdn. Bhd.<\/a>, concluded
successfully  at Kingston Hotel 10, Bukit
Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, bringing together hotel owners,hotel operators, industry
leaders, technology providers, government representatives and innovators to
discuss the future of hospitality automation and digital transformation in
Malays<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summit was officially officiated by
YBhg. Dato\u2019 Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot, Secretary-General of the Ministry of
Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), reflecting the Government\u2019s
continued support towards strengthening innovation, productivity and
competitiveness within Malaysia\u2019s tourism and hospitality sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOSAS 2026 served as a strategic
platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore emerging
technologies that are transforming the hospitality industry globally.
Discussions focused on key developments including Artificial Intelligence (AI),
Smart Rooms and Internet of Things (IoT), contactless technologies, cloud-based
hotel systems, predictive analytics, operational automation and
sustainability-driven innovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key highlight of the summit was the
official launch of the Nano S Self Check-In Kiosk, an innovative hospitality
solution designed to help hotels improve operational efficiency while
addressing increasing manpower and operational cost challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nano S Self Check-In Kiosk
introduces a compact and intelligent self-service solution that offers a
paperless and cashless guest experience. Its features include integrated
passport and identification document scanning, facial comparison technology for
enhanced security, deposit pre-authorisation capabilities and membership
solutions that support guest engagement and loyalty programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kiosk enables hotels to provide
faster and more seamless guest experiences while optimising space utilisation
and reducing dependency on manual processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the summit, Dr Sri Ganesh
Michiel, National President of MyBHA\u00ae, said that the launch of the Nano S Self
Check-In Kiosk demonstrates how practical and scalable technologies can help
hotels embrace digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe future of hospitality is
becoming smarter, smaller and more efficient. Technologies such as the Nano S
Self Check-In Kiosk show how innovation can transform hotel operations,
particularly for budget and business hotels that are looking to improve
efficiency while managing rising operating costs and manpower challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Automation is no longer a luxury but an
operational necessity. Hotels must increasingly leverage technology to do more
with less space, less manpower and less paperwork while continuing to enhance
service quality and guest satisfaction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Sri Ganesh further emphasised that
while digital transformation presents enormous opportunities, many hotels
continue to face significant financial challenges that limit their ability to
invest in technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor almost fifteen years, room
rates across much of Malaysia have remained largely stagnant, while operating
costs have increased substantially. Labour costs, utilities, maintenance
expenses, compliance requirements and technology investments have all risen
considerably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hotels need healthy profitability before
they can meaningfully invest in automation and digital transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that delays in addressing these
structural challenges would affect not only hotel operators but also the
broader hospitality ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen hotels delay investments,
technology providers lose opportunities, innovation slows, digital solution
providers face reduced market demand and the entire industry\u2019s productivity is
affected. A financially healthy hotel industry is fundamental to building a
digitally transformed and globally competitive hospitality sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Sri Ganesh also reiterated that fair
competition does not necessarily equate to healthy competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA sustainable hospitality industry
cannot be built solely on price competition. Healthy competition is one that
allows businesses to innovate, reinvest, improve employee welfare and
continuously enhance guest experiences while remaining financially
sustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the summit, participants had
the opportunity to experience live demonstrations of hospitality technologies,
engage directly with industry experts and explore practical solutions that can
enhance productivity and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The successful organisation of HOSAS
2026 and the launch of the Nano S Self Check-In Kiosk signify the growing
momentum towards automation and digital transformation within Malaysia\u2019s
hospitality industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
