The event, officiated by Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital&nbsp;Malaysia, attracted more than 1000 distinguished guests from the retail sector,&nbsp;shopping mall management, major property developers, retail-related industries as well as&nbsp;financial institutions.<\/p>\n<p>This prestigious occasion also witnessed the official installation of Datuk Ken Phua as the new MRCA President, along with the swearing-in of the new council members who will lead the association covering the 2024-2026 term. Phua, who was elected during the 27th MRCA Annual General Meeting that took place on&nbsp;April 18, 2024, succeeds Dato\u2019 Sharan Valiram, immediate past president for the 2022-2024 term.<\/p>\n<p>Phua, the Managing Director of Bentley Music Group, has been a prominent figure in the music industry for over 30 years. Under his leadership, Bentley Music has expanded across six core division; impacting areas beyond retail, including corporate and institutional advisory, and sound reinforcement for applications such as hotels like Sheraton and Marriott, F&amp;B outlets like Hard Rock Cafes, and entertainment systems on Genting Cruise ships.<\/p>\n<p>As he steps into his role as MRCA President, he shared positively on the association&#8217;s future. &#8221; I am filled with optimism as we look to the future. Together with my council team, we aim to enhance our collective capabilities, support our members&#8217; growth, and shape the future of retail in Malaysia,&#8221; he stated.<\/p>\n<p>His presidency will be guided by the tagline &#8220;Reunite, Voice, and Triumph for Retailers.&#8221; His tenure will focus on six key objectives:<\/p>\n<p>1. Engagement with the Authorities \u2013 Strengthening MRCA members&#8217; dialogue and partnership with regulatory bodies and government agencies to advocate effectively for the overall sector.<\/p>\n<p>5.
