Building Your Personal Brand with Confidence

Women Empowerment Workshop with The Branding Association of Malausis

Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM) resonated with a powerful women empowerment workshop which saw influential females from different spheres of society take to stage. Sharing nuggets of wisdom from their life’s journey, six strong women summarised the ups-and-downs they had to go through with personal struggles and triumphs.

“Building Your Personal Brand With Confidence” was the brainchild of BAM President Datin Dr Winnie Loo. No stranger to carving a niche for herself armed with a pair of scissors, she spoke on the importance of being consistent and dedicated to the task at hand while remaining relevant throughout the seasons by maintaining humility, perseverance and a little bit of ingenuity in balancing work and family life.

Maintaining that “people buy who you are”, she is convinced that true authenticity attracts the right people and opportunities.

The importance of maintaining a set of good friends is also crucial to being successful she asserted.

Agreeing that one’s perceived weakness can actually be the turning point of making one stand out, personal development coach Aemy Wong who delivered an engaging presentation on “Oops! I branded My Imperfections to USP!”, the former air stewardess spoke up against challenging societal norms while turning what makes you different into your strength.

Additionally, she said that no one can replicate you so embracing the unique you-that-you-are is key.

In essence, she asserted that “if no one gives you a stage, build your own!”

Equally captivating in asserting the need for one to keep minding one’s lane while challenging your energy into self-growth saw an energetic Wong Chui Ling explode on stage.

The celebrity emcee and trainer illustrated on how one can leverage and stand out in transforming experiences through communication.

“Confidence starts with self-love,” she maintained.

“Believe in yourself, and the world will follow,” she added.

Datin Dr Cherlin Cheah, record holder of Guinness World Records also delivered a punchy address to the audience with her style of aligning brands for business success.

Both Datin Dorph Penh and Puan Sri Nisa Bakri spoke of health scares – the concern being augmented as they are mothers. Peng, national adviser to SMEAM led the forum discussion on “Empowering Women Through Personal Branding” while bespoke culinary chef Bakri took us on a rollercoaster ride from health scare with the doctor telling her she had months to live to a complete turnaround learning she was in the perfect health state given the mistake of another person’s health diagnosis being hers. In essence, all of them emphasised on the power of doing and not just being. Meaning it is not so much what you do but who you become in the journey of life.
